OC Register: "Man laughs as father describes stabbing in court"

By LARRY WELBORN

SANTA ANA – A Santa Ana man sat handcuffed to a chair in an 11th-floor courtroom and laughed Friday as he listened to his 81-year-old father describe how he was brutally stabbed multiple times in the face and mouth by the son in February 2010 during an unprovoked attack inside a parked car.

Milorad Olic, 44, who is acting as his own lawyer, never looked up at Teodore Olic, his father, during a 10-minute victim-impact statement, but instead looked at legal papers and laughed out loud on at least two occasions as the senior Olic described how he was nearly killed in the attack.

The younger Olic was scheduled to be sentenced Friday after he was convicted in April of the attempted murder of his father and felony elder-abuse with sentencing enhancements for causing great bodily injury to an elder and personal use of a deadly weapon. He faces a potential life sentence.
